What Are You Most Passionate About?

Working with kids and the work I do with an NGO called Barefoot College. I conduct monitoring and evaluation surveys in the communities where we implement solar energy systems. This gives me the ability to hear a lot of untold stories from a section of society who is often not listened to.

Who Is Your Hero? Why?

My hero is a small kid named Kishan, who is 1 and half years old and was malnourished when he was born. His mother was only 15 when she gave birth and she’s pregnant for the second time now. Kishan fought a big battle to get out of the malnourished state that he was in during the first few months of his life. His journey is what guided me to the right people and ignited the passion inside me to work with them.

What Is Your Favorite Sound?

I like the sound of the wind. It speaks a lot of languages.

How would a laptop help you?

My role is to assess the impact of the projects we implement in rural communities. I conduct baseline surveys before selecting a village, then after solar electrification I monitor the village over the course of one year.  After that, I conduct an evaluation that tells us whether the project was a success.. For conducting surveys and doing data entry I need a high performance laptop because most of the time my work is in very remote villages and if the laptop fails the whole process of monitoring & evaluation will be disrupted.

What do you love about this project?

The way people smile when their household is electrified with solar energy. The smile before and the smile afterwards says a lot of things. And the part I love most about this project is that smile.

What Languages do you speak?

English, Hindi, Malayalam and Tamil.
