What Are You Most Passionate About?

Working in the social development sector. Prior to this I would have never thought that my work would help so many artisans. I have worked at Barefoot College for ten straight years and learned how to use a computer here, I take pride in handling the online store that sells our handicrafts. I get to learn something new everyday and am also being trained in the English language.

Who Is Your Hero? Why?

My hero is the founder-director Shri Bunker Roy, who has been a source of motivation and inspiration for me since the beginning.  He comes from a prestigious background and was educated in some of the best schools of India, and yet he chooses to work for the upliftment of the poor. He trusts people and gives us freedom to learn and unlearn. That is why he is my hero and role model.

What Is Your Favorite Sound?

I like to listen to folk music, specifically the sound of Sarangi (An Indian musical instrument, local to Rajasthani folk musicians)

What Project Would A Laptop Help You With?

I am currently not able to take my work home or get to learn new developments in this field. A laptop will help me better understand the marketing world and help me to get better equipped for online orders.

How would a laptop help you?

I am currently not able to take my work home or get to learn new developments in this field. A laptop will help me better understand the marketing world and help me to get better equipped for online orders. ( We are going to launch an online store soon for the Indian Handicrafts market).

What do you love about this project?

The best thing about working for the rural handicrafts section is that we get to save our traditional art. This art has been with us for centuries and with the advent with modernization it is slowly fading away. I believe handicrafts can co-exist with industrial goods. Digital inclusion in terms of design, store management and payments can be integrated to the handicrafts to improve the market. This is what I want to work on and I hope that the PC from Globetops will help to support me in my vision.
